The Square of the Cathedral of Paris’s Mother of God was closed due to the increased concentration of lead in the air. It may be dangerous to health, writes France Bleu.
Paris police department banned traffic and pedestrians from Notre Dame. The decision was adopted on the recommendation of the Regional Health Agency.
Area promise to open after cleaning. The metal was kept in the carrier design of the cathedral and in its spier, its particles got into the air as a result of a fire in the cathedral. Lead, as a rule, enters the human body when inhaling the lead-containing dust, soot and vapor.
So, in June 2019, pregnant women and children living near Notre Dama, advised to check the amount of lead in the body.
The Cathedral of the Paris’s Mother of God caught fire on April 15, 2019. The fire destroyed most of the roof and the spire, eliminating fire managed only the next day. During the fire, about 300 tons of lead was melted, contained in the bearing structures and spiers.
