US and Germany discussed Russia

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and German Foreign Minister Haiko Maas discussed Russia, European Energy Policy and the situation in the Middle East. This is stated in the statement of the foreign policy German office in twitter .

Maas and Blinken spent a telephone conversation. “Deeschalation in the Middle East is now the main priority, we will use different diplomatic channels for [settlement],” the message says.

USA and Germany have repeatedly talked about the need to establish relations with Russia. So, Blinken during a press conference in Reykjavik said that Washington would like more stable and predictable relations with Moscow.

Mas also said that “confrontational hype” is not in the interests of Berlin, who seeks to dialogue and good-neighborly relations.

In Reykjavik Blinken will also meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov. It will happen in the evening on Wednesday, May 19.
