The North Stream-2 gas pipeline will be completed, because it is a “purely commercial project.” This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in an interview with the Moscow Komsomolets newspaper.
He noted that the United States is trying to prevent construction due to the “protectionism of pure water”. Novak is confident that the American side wants to realize his more expensive and therefore not sufficiently competitive goods in the form of liquefied natural gas.
Revealing the main reason for the completion of the Department of Gas Pipe Deputy Prime Minister reminded that the project implements not only the Russian side, but also the consortium of the largest European companies. They are interested in bringing the “Northern Flow-2” to the end, the project will be implemented, I am sure Novak.
Previously, the German Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography (BSH) allowed the construction of a gas pipeline in German waters in May. We are talking about a section of two kilometers long in the German exceptional economic zone.
On May 17, the Consul General of Germany in Yekaterinburg Matias Cruz called the length of the unfinished section of the Northern Flow-2. According to him, it remains to complete 80 kilometers. He is confident that the project will be completed, but did not predict the timing of its completion.
Initially, the gas pipeline was supposed to be commissioned in 2019. But due to the sanctions imposed by the United States, construction participants began to leave the project. The timing of its implementation was repeatedly transferred.
