Foreign Ministry responded to the approach of the American atomic submarine to the Norwegian port at the borders of Russia. This was reported by the official representative of the department Maria Zakharov, RIA Novosti reports.
Diplomat said that the approach of the submarine to the Russian borders is concerned. She noted that the border civilian port in Norwegian Tonsnes was “specially upgraded under such visits at the expense of Washington’s funds” and is the “next NATO outpost.”
The diplomat stressed that the messages of the military leadership of Norway on the absence of nuclear weapons on board the submarine do not inspire confidence. She noticed that the Norwegian side was confessed in the lack of reliable information about the arms of the ship.
“is especially regrettable that Oslo took a tough course to enhance the militarization of the Arctic, the discharge of tension in this traditionally peaceful region, trying to please the NATO senior partners,” Zakharov added. She noted that attributing a certain stabilizing role like such actions by the United States causes bewilderment.
On May 10, the US nuclear submarine arrived at the civilian harbor of Tromso in the north of Norway. Previously, Norwegian politicians were afraid of war of Russia and the United States, which allegedly may begin due to the placement of NATO military bases in the country.
