During the latest tests of the Precision Strike Missile (PRSM) rocket, called the “killer” of Russian anti-air defense systems (for example, the C-400 “Triumph”), passed more than 400 kilometers, having broken its own range record, reports Edition Defense News, clarified On Lockheed Martin.
The corresponding tests were held at the White Sands Polygon in New Mexico. According to Lockheed Martin, during the tests, the claimed weapons characteristics were confirmed, in particular, the range and accuracy, as well as the possibility of integrating the rocket with the launching installation of High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (Himars).
Defense News reminds that in 2020, the PRSM rocket flew on the range 240, 180 and 85 kilometers.
In April, the Breaking Defense edition reported that the US Army studies the possibility of increasing the Rocket range of PRSM to 1600 kilometers.
The US Army PRSM must be received in 2023.
According to Defense News, currently the claimed maximum Range of PRSM is equal to 499 kilometers, but this indicator can be increased to 550 kilometers, since the United States and Russia are not related to the obligations under the negotiated and medium-range missiles (DRMSD).
