In Russia and the foreign markets recorded a lack of sawn timber for the construction of wooden houses. In this regard, the prices of the wood rose. The Ministry of Industry and Technology is considering the possibility of limiting the export of sawn timber, writes RBC.
The press service of the Ministry of Edition explained that at the moment the question of the inclusion of wood is being worked out in the list of products substantially important for the domestic market. The Ministry of Industry and Technology does not exclude the possibility of introducing export customs duties on lumber with humidity of more than 22 percent.
The need to temporarily restrict the export of wood and the adoption of measures to curb prices in the country agreed and the Association of Wooden House Building. Representatives of the organization in a letter addressed to the head of the Ministry of Industry, Denis Manturova, stated that exports should be limited until the situation in Europe, the USA and China is stabilized.
MINPROMTORG confirmed that the rise in prices is associated with the global market. According to the ministry, foreign prices exceed Russian about 7-30 percent, depending on the type of product.
During October last year, Victoria Abramchenko Vice Prime Minister said that in 2019 50 million cubic meters of timber (41.2 million tons) were taken from Russia (41.2 million tons), 85 percent of them are untreated wood. At the same time in recent years, the forest is exporting much more active. In particular, in 2014, exports were only 34 million tons.
Before that, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the situation with the forest with the words “I don’t climb into any gate.” The head of state during the relevant meeting was left dissatisfied with “purely archaic, consumer” approaches to the use of forest resources.
