Operator of Russian space means of remote sensing of the Earth (DZZ) of the Roskosmos State Corporation (NC OMZ JSC Russian Space Systems) continues operational monitoring of emergency situations in the Russian Federation by means of the Russian orbital grouping. DZZ technology is an indispensable tool for learning and continuous monitoring of our planet, helping to effectively use and manage its resources. The current development of these technologies expands the scope of their application, covering all sides of our life, work, business, home and family.
In particular, from March 6 to 14, 2021, the following emergencies were monitored at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia:
- ice furnishings in the Novosibirsk region;
- gathering avalanche on the military Georgian road;
- Ice crossings in several regions of the Russian Federation;
- Wheel of the fishing vessel in Barents Sea;
- Ice settings in the Astrakhan region.
As part of the activities of the International Charter on Space and large catastrophes, monitoring of floods in Bolivia and Morocco was monitored. Based on the media reports on natural and man-made catastrophes around the world, the space photography of the aircraft crashing on Indonesia and landslide on Indonesia, Western Java, was planned.
During the reporting period, Russian data of the remote sensing of the Earth in the amount of about 140 thousand square kilometers (34 shooting routes are not taking into account cloud routes and routes passing by multiple applications at the same time) were transferred to the EMERCOM of Russia. At the same time, data in the amount of about 30 thousand square kilometers (14 shooting routes without cloud routes and routes passing in areas of interest of several applications simultaneously were transmitted to the International Charter on Space and Large Catastrophes.
Roskosmos State Corporation and Russian Space Systems Company support operational cooperation with the EMERCOM of Russia for timely response to the emergence of a flood and fire-hazardous situation and the implementation of space monitoring of the affected territories.
