Court in Cameroon gave five years in prisons in two transvestites – Loic Nykaum (Loic Njeukam), known under the Shakiro pseudonym, and Roland Mouthe (Roland Mouthe), in social networks known as Patricia. They were convicted for an inappropriate view of a public place, “attempted homosexuality” and the lack of identity cards, the African branch of BBC reports.
Crosdressers (men who are changing in women) who advocate for the rights of sexual minorities, they were arrested in a restaurant back in February and held in custody all the time before the court sessions were held.
They received the highest possible term under the article on homosexuality – in Cameroon, as in 30 other countries in Africa, a homosexual orientation is prosecuted by law. They were also sentenced to a fine, in the event of non-payment of which they will spend in prison another year.
As notes the defender of both prisoners, thus the authorities give the population to understand that they are not going to weaken the persecution of sex minorities in the country.
The criminalization of homosexual links is unexpectedly affects the statistics of crimes: so, the researchers found that in a number of Arab countries, men become victims of rape more often than women – however, as a rule, do not report this to the police, fearing the criminal prosecution for men.
