The European Union is going to take a new package of sanctions against Belarus within a few weeks. This was reported by the EU Supreme Representative on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel, TASS reports.
“Power in Minsk now began persecution against the Polish Community. We are preparing a new block of sanctions, which I hope will be accepted in the coming weeks,” he announced.
Details of preparing sanctions Borrel did not led.
Earlier in May, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko promised the European Union problem due to sanctions against Minsk. In particular, he instructed the Prime Minister of Roman Golovchenko to prepare information about large European projects and enterprises in the republic.
The last, third, the EU sanctions package against the leadership of Belarus was adopted on December 17, 2020. 29 officials were included in the list, including the head of the National Guest Version company Ivan Eismont, as well as Seven Jurlitz, including the Minsk Plant of Wheel Tractor and BELTECHEXPORT.
EU does not recognize the results of the presidential election in Belarus on August 9 and the victory of Lukashenko. Also sanctions are a response to mass violence by the Belarusian security forces in relation to the protesters and persecution of the opposition. Lukashenko believes that the elections passed under the law, and the actions of the security officials did not go beyond the permissible.
