Oleg Yuryevich Atykov went to the space flight on February 8, 1984 as a cosmonaut-researcher of the Soyuz T-10 spacecraft on the Salyut-7 orbital station, along with Leonid Kizimir and Vladimir Solovyuv. As part of the flight, Oleg Atykov conducted a number of studies aimed at developing optimal labor regimes and recreation of cosmonauts under long-term stay in weightlessness. In addition, the flight has been carried out with new equipment for assessing the health status of crews, as well as a number of unique experiments.
Cosmonauts “Union T-10” worked at the station with the Soviet-Indian crew (Yu.V. Malyshev, G.M. Strekalov, R. Sharm (India)) and the Expedition of the Soyuz T-12 ship (V. A. Dzhanibekov, S.E. Savitskaya, I.P. Wolf). October 2, 1984 KK “Union T-11” with cosmonauts O.Yu. Atkov, ld Kizim and V.A. Solovyuvoy returned safely to Earth. In space, the crew spent 236 days. On the day of the return of Oleg Atkova from Sosmos, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the Medal “Golden Star”.
Oleg Yuryevich achieved great success on one professional field. Before enrolling in the cosmonaut detachment (1977), Oleg Atykov worked in the medical sphere and was engaged in the study of the cardiovascular crew system. A talented doctor and cosmonaut, a unique and versatile person, he is the author of more than 150 scientific papers, which include four monographs, 14 inventions and three patents.
