Belarusian authorities published a list with the names of the security structures dismissed due to protests. It is located at the national legal Internet portal.
The list presents the names of 86 security officials. They are incriminated to the help of Belarusian protesters, non-execution of the orders of the authorities and the refusal to suppress demonstrations and rallies. The specified list includes officers of the Armed Forces, Police, Justice Bodies and the Investigative Committee.
All of them were deprived of military and special ranks, criminal proceedings were initiated against some. It is noted that the decision on the dismissal was adopted by President Alexander Lukashenko. He substantiated him with “discrediting actions” of silovikov during the “exacerbation of the socio-political situation”.
The commanding of the inner troops of Belarus Nikolai Karpenkov promised to clean the whole “bloodthirsty opposition” remaining in the country and compared the repression against the protesters with the counter-terrorism operation. “The fight against them will be carried out as the struggle” of the Humane State “in relation to Osame Bin Laden,” he said.
Protests continued in Belarus after the presidential election on August 9, 2020. They were brutally suppressed by the security forces. Tens of thousands of people were detained, many told about torture and beating in insulators. Four people died in clashes with internal troops and police.
