The anti-Russian sanctions of the United States and other countries of the West became the “gesture of despair”. This was stated by the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharov in an interview with RT.
According to her, politically motivated and unilateral sanctions are a modern reality. In Moscow, such measures are regarded as “gesture of despair because of the inability to adopt new realities,” the diplomat noted.
she added that the West would not refuse “bloc thinking” and cannot recognize Russia’s right to their own ways of development and relations with other states. “They, apparently, it is difficult to put up with the obvious success of the Russian economy, an increase in its international competitiveness, expanding the presence of high-quality Russian goods and services in world markets,” said Zakharov.
The representative of the Foreign Ministry added that Western countries are sanctions replaced diplomacy, as well as distract from their problems. At the same time, they are limited only to try to keep the dominant position in the world, which gradually disappears.
In addition, Zakharova said that the government was prepared for the possible disconnection of Russia from the international payment system SWIFT.
Before that, the representative of the Foreign Ministry also accused the United States in provoking the arms race.
earlier in the United States stated that the approach of the Presidential Administration Joe Bayden to relations with Russia inevitably implies a dialogue. On April 28, the American leader appealed to Congress with a traditional message “On the situation of the country”. During the speech, he stated that Washington did not seek the escalation of tensions with Moscow, but promises the consequences for “interventions”.
