Rector of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) Yaroslav Kuzminov prejudice decklessness to the middle class in Russia. It is reported by RBC.
Kuzminov explained that the state supported production and did not support mid-class representatives. This, in his opinion, is a “defect of our policy.” From this point of view, noted the rector of the HSE, the transition of middle class representatives into the category of the poor “is explosive”.
The fall in the average class income may lead to the fact that Russia does not achieve a significant increase in economic growth rates, and this indicator will remain “within two percent.” In poverty may have a significant proportion of the population, he concluded.
On April 29, Rosstat published data on the real disposable income of Russians following the first quarter of 2021. Compared to the same period last year, they fell by 3.6 percent, and compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 – by 26.7 percent. The scale of the fall in the latter case (more than a quarter) is associated both with seasonal payments at the end of the year and with New Year’s holidays.
