According to the Moscow Planetarium, the May sky will please “Star Rain” from the constellation Aquarius – from April 19 to May 28, a meteor flow of Mayquarides is operating. The peak of the activity of May Aquaride 5-6-7 May 2021, according to forecasts of an international meteor organization, up to 50 meteors are expected per hour. A wide maximum stream, sometimes with the presence of submasmums, occurs in early May: from May 3 to 10, when 30 and more meteors can be observed per hour.

Maykvarides are a beautiful and rich meteor flow. Its source is a dust track left from the famous comet of Gallet. Every year in April-May and October (Orionides) the land passes through it. Comet Galleya was observed in 1986, next time it will appear in the sky of the Earth in 75 years – in 2061.

The complexity of observations is that the flow radiant rises in the morning, and is best visible from the southern hemisphere. In medium latitudes, the radiant Mayquaride is visible low above the southeast horizon just a couple of hours before dawn. It cultures around 8 am local time. These are fast white meteors with traces. Meteor speed is high enough, and is almost 67 km / s.

Observation conditions of Mayquaride in 2021, with clear weather – favorable. The decreasing moon (F = 0.28) will only intervene the observations, it is located near the radiant, but it appears from the horizon later it.

  • When: 5-6-7-7. Summer triangle. The radiant is located left (east) and below the star Altair. Look at the sky area between horizon and asterism Summer triangle.
