President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zaparov signed a new edition of the Constitution of the Republic, reports TASS.
The signing ceremony took place in the State Residence “Ala-Archa”. “The new Constitution is written taking into account the challenges that are relevant for our country, it reflects the values we value as the people, and the ideals that we strive for as a society,” the head of state said.
Amendments to the main law of Kyrgyzstan were adopted at the referendum held in the republic on April 11.
Members of the Constitutional Meeting proposed to strengthen the powers of the president, reduce the rights of parliament and reduce its number from 120 to 90 people. The head of state will receive complete control over the government, including the opportunity to assign and dismiss ministers.
