In Germany, they rated risks of construction of construction of “Northern Flow-2” due to ecologists

The construction of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline is hardly finally stopped due to the lawsuit of the environmentalists from the NABU organization. So the chapter of the Committee of the German Bundestag on Economics and Energy Claus Ernst, the head of the project of the German Bundestag on Economics and Energy Klaus Ernst, has been rated.

According to the policy, a filed claim can slow down construction, but its full stop looks like an unrealistic option. So, Ernst emphasized, the implementation of the project was already fully approved by all the competent authorities, which confirms its compliance with the law.

“In this regard, I do not see the reasons why” Northern Stream-2 “should not be completed,” the head of the Committee summed up.

May 3 became known that NABU Environmental Organization filed a lawsuit against the permission of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) for the construction of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline. It was noted that the claim concerns the unfinished section of the pipeline “in the exceptional economic zone of Germany.”

In April, German ecologists already wanted to prevent the construction of “Northern Flood-2”: then in the court of Hamburg, the environmental organization Deutsche UmwellFe demanded that the regulator was abolished by the regulator permission to lay the gas pipeline in German waters.

Before that, the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography of Germany (BSH) has already rejected the demand of ecologists. The department stated that the concerns of environmental organizations regarding the fact that the construction of the gas pipeline allegedly harm the nesting birds, did not find confirmations.

Initially, the North Stream-2 should have been commissioned at the end of 2019. However, due to the limitations imposed by the United States, its participants began to emerge from the project.
