Changzhhen-5B carrier rocket with the main module of the future Chinese orbital station “Tiangong” was launched from the cosmodrome “Wenchang” on the island of Hainan, writes RIA Novosti.
The main module “Tianhe”, the length of which is 16.6 meters with a maximum diameter of 4.2 meters, is the largest spacecraft created in China. It will host the Center for Control and Management and the main living space for the crew, there are also some scientific and technological experiments there.
In March, the Russian and Chinese parties signed a memorandum on the creation of the lunar station. Representatives of the governments of Russia and China are the head of “Roskosmos” Dmitry Rogozin and the head of the Chinese National Space Administration (KNA) Zhang Khajian – signed a cooperation agreement. The parties agreed to be guided by the “principles of parity distribution of rights and obligations” and use the “Space space for peaceful purposes in the interests of all mankind.”
