Natural gas supplies from Russia in the following years, most likely grow, such an outcome was made by the Minister of Economy and Energy of Germany Peter Altmayer, RIA Novosti reports.
“Needs in subsequent years will rather grow, because in Germany we leave from nuclear energy, from coal energy, we need more gas,” the minister pointed out. According to him, FRG received gas from the USSR and then Russia for 40 years. Germany gas will need a few more years as a transitional technology. “This is a transitional technology, and from the other end of this bridge a new renewable energy is waiting for us,” Altmayer concluded.
previously became known that the German authorities wanted to quickly complete and put into operation the Russian export gas pipeline “Northern Stream-2”. The FRG stressed that the country still needs reliable gas supplies from Russia.
Initially, the North Stream-2 should have been commissioned at the end of 2019. However, due to the limitations imposed by the United States, its participants began to leave the project. The deadlines for the implementation were multiple times, and at the moment they are not defined. At the end of April, the Russian vessel academician Cherka began laying pipes in the waters of Denmark.
Russian governments Alexander Novak said that the construction of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline is completed in 2021, but did not call approximate dates. On the other hand, earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee on Energy Pavel Zavalny told the deputies of the Bundestag that the work on the “Northern Stream-2” will be completed until autumn, and then gas can already be supplied.
