Coast of United States has found a major burial of fuel

At the bottom of the Pacific Ocean 20 kilometers from Los Angeles found huge burials of barrels, which contain about 25 thousand barrels (more than 3,000 tons) of diesel fuel, reports Assassiated Press.

Sea scholars have found seashere in the coast of toxic waste from Santa Catalina near the island of Santa Catalina. Water in this place and previously contained high levels of toxic chemical. Historical ship magazines show that the barrels were discharged here by industrial companies since the 1930s until 1972, when a law on environmental protection was adopted in the United States. The exact scale of burial until this point was not known.

According to the images of underwater drones, barrels lie at a depth of about 900 meters. “It was a surprise for everyone who worked with the data and went to the sea,” said Eric Terry California Institute of Oceanography of California University.

In case the barrels did not proceed, the environmentalists expect to raise them from the bottom and transport to another place to safely dispose.
