Singapore ranked first in the rating of the safest countries during the Pandemic period COVID-19, overtaking New Zealand. This is stated in the Bloomberg study.
The reason for the optimistic epidemiological situation in the country has become the high rates of vaccination of the population and the effective struggle against the spread of the virus, the agency notes. Singapore’s authorities quickly closed the boundaries, and also introduced a strict quarantine for infected and contacting them. Thanks to hard measures, it was possible to reduce the daily number of infections to a minimum.
To determine the position of the country in the ranking, key factors were analyzed: mortality rates, the total number of patients, the number of tests conducted and the statistics for vaccination. Singapore scored 79.7 points, followed by New Zealand, then Australia and Israel.
In total, 53 countries participated in the study. Russia occupied 22nd place, ahead of Germany, Austria, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. In the Russian territory during the epidemic in the country revealed 4.7 million cases of COVID-19 infection, of which 108 thousand died. At the moment, 7.5 million inhabitants are completely vaccinated in the country.
