Scientists of the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences proved the existence of dark energy, which is the reason for the accelerated expansion of the Universe. Analysis data was obtained during an extended spectroscopic overview of baryon oscillations (The Extended Baryon Oscillance Spectroscopic Survey, EBOSS), that is, fluctuations in the density of visible matter, which arose in the young dense universe due to acoustic waves. This made it possible to measure the speed of cosmological expansion and growth of large-scale structures in the universe, when the dimensions of its radius were limited to the range of 0.7-1.8 billion light years.
According to the results of the study, the relationship between the energy density caused by the cosmological constant (or dark energy) and the critical density capable of stopping the extension of the universe (this relation is denoted Ωλ), it turned out to be larger than zero at the level of statistical significance of 11 sigma. At the moment, this is the most convincing evidence of the presence of dark energy in the universe.
