The Russian authorities took up the legal framework for the temporary ban on the export of gasoline from the country. According to the newspaper Kommersant, the fuel is prepared to make a list of goods whose exports can be temporarily limited. The publication refers to a copy of the protocol of the meeting at the Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novaka.
From this document it follows that the government instructed the Ministry of Energy to prepare projects of acts on the establishment of temporary exports of “individual types of petroleum products.”
The gasoline itself is planned to make a list of products that are “essential for the domestic market”, but in relation to them “in exceptional cases, temporary restrictions or prohibitions of exports can be established.” In other words, if necessary, the export of Russian gasoline to countries outside the EAEU may be prohibited.
previously became known that Russian authorities can partially limit gasoline exports to hold its cost. Vice Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who oversees the energy, noticed that the government could support such a measure in a limited period. The introduction of fuel export restrictions (in the form of a direct ban or establishing export duties) leads to an increase in its supply in the domestic market. This, in turn, entails the price reduction.
