Head of Indonesia declared death of a submarine with a crew from 53 military

President of Indonesia Joco Vidodo declared the death of Nanggala submarine, on board which was the crew from 53 servicemen. This is stated in a special video reporting of the head of state, reports TASS.

According to the president, the command of the Navy reported to him that the ship was sank in the Balinese sea. He promised to make maximum effort to search for a submarine.

The Indonesian people are mourned, due to the death of “patriots guarding the country’s sovereignty,” the head of the state said, calling the tragedy.

On April 24, the head of the Navy of Indonesia, Admiral Yudo Margono, suggested that the submarine could crack. Such damage is quite consistent with the tremendous pressure exerted at depths. He also noticed that the Nanggala ship was clearly overloaded, since it was designed for 34 crew members, and at the time of the disappearance it transported 53 people.

The vessel was noticed in the waters off the coast of the island when scanning the bottom of the Balinese Sea at a depth of about 850 meters.
