In the White House, the results of the introduction of sanctions against Russia appreciated. This was stated by Deputy Assistant President of the US President Dalip Singh in an interview with Reuters.
Singh said that when making restrictive measures, Washington’s intention was to act proportionally and apply a target approach. According to him, the sanctions were aimed at giving Russia to understand that the United States has the opportunity to put even greater damage if Moscow continues its actions or the escalation will begin. So far, the results of their introduction are quite close to what they were counted in Washington, he summarized.
The president’s deputy assistant also noted that sanctions are only an element of a wider US strategy regarding Russia. He stressed that Washington strives to build more stable and predictable relations with Moscow.
April 15 US President Joe Biden signed a decree on the introduction of new sanctions against Russia. Restrictions touched individuals and legal entities. Among the grounds for their introduction, allegedly hostile activity of Russia in the cybersfer, interference in the elections in the United States or other foreign countries.
In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia published a list of sanctions against the United States. Moscow will refuse 10 American diplomats, take measures to end the hiring of citizens of Russia and third countries to the Embassy or the US Consulate Protection and to ban American diplomats of the trip beyond the locations of their basing.
