Popular stock company from USA left Russia

Popular brokerage company from the United States Interactive Brokers (IB) left Russia, stopping cooperation with local partners, writes RBC with reference to sources on the market.

At the initiative of IB, collaborating with it Russian brokers will have to close the available accounts, which means their customers will also lose access to them.

Officially, the reason for such a decision is not indicated, but some Russian brokers who worked with IB on the sub-Brocrac scheme warned customers that the company faced the claims of the American regulator – the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). That suspected IB in insufficient control and control of money laundering from customers.

ib was one of the most popular Russian brokers. At the same time, Russian customers according to the law could not open accounts directly from him, and therefore used the services of domestic intermediary companies, paying an increased commission.

In 2020, SEC fined Interactive Brokers by $ 38 million for insufficient control over compliance with customers’ laws.
