The Belarusian authorities banned the import and implementation of three Western companies on the territory of their country, the report on the government site.
The prohibition of the products of the German manufacturer of engine oils Liqui Moly, Czech autocontracene Skoda (belong to German Volkswagen) and the German cosmetic corporation Beiersdorf. The latter owns the NIVEA brand.
The release of the Cabinet of Ministers is justified by the need to protect national interests “taking into account unfriendly actions against the Belarusian people.” It is noted that in case of detection of prohibited goods, they will be forced to export outside Belarus, and sellers are issued to the ban on the implementation.
In this case, the ban will not affect the goods imported by citizens from abroad for personal use, as well as imported distributors for transit through Belarus.
In mid-April, the Belarusian authorities prohibited the import of products under the brand Nivea, justifying it by the identified sanitary disorders.
All three companies should have become sponsors of the World Hockey Championship, which was planned to be held in May-June in Minsk and Riga. However, later they demanded from the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) to transfer the tournament to another country due to violations of human rights during protests after last year’s presidential elections. As a result, the championship was decided to spend only in Riga.
