One of the most wanted bosses of the Calabrian mafia “ndrangheta” group was detained in Barcelona. It was reported by the Italian agency ANSI.
35-year-old Giuseppe Romeo played a key role in the supply of cocaine to Europe. A member of the mafia was sentenced to 20 years for drug trafficking.
Italian Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese said that the capture of the criminal dealt a serious blow to the Ndrangheta, which is considered the largest supplier of cocaine to Europe.
In January, in the Italian city of Lamezia Terme in Calabria, the largest trial in the last 30 years began over members of the “Ndrangheta”. 355 suspected mafiosi, as well as officials, businessmen and lawyers suspected of conspiring with them, were in the dock.
