The US authorities spoke about unsuccessful attempts to establish a dialogue with North Korea (DPRK) in order to prevent an escalation of tensions. A high-ranking representative of the American administration told TASS.
Washington has been trying to contact Pyongyang for almost a month, but has still not received a response.
“To reduce the risk of escalation, since mid-February we have contacted the DPRK authorities through several channels, including in New York. Until now, we have not received a response from Pyongyang,” the source said. According to him, there has been no “active dialogue” with the DPRK for over a year.
The administration spokesman also added that throughout the process, the United States has interacted and will interact with “allies in Japan and South Korea.” “We listened carefully to their ideas, including in the framework of trilateral consultations,” the official concluded.
Earlier it became known that the former US President Donald Trump offered the DPRK leader Kim Jong-un to “throw” him from Vietnam to Pyongyang on his plane. At the same time, Trump did not warn his advisers about the agreement. It is noted that Trump considered this gesture as a friendly service, as it would help Kim Jong-un to significantly reduce the time to return home. The head of the DPRK refused his offer.
In early January, Kim Jong-un called the United States the main enemy of the DPRK. He expressed the opinion that the policy of the United States towards the country will not change regardless of who will occupy posts in the American administration.
