Former British chief of staff criticized state of British Armed Forces

The British army is unsuitable for military operations – in Russia they are supposedly laughing at it, and in the USA they shake their heads. The state of the armed forces (Armed Forces) of Great Britain was criticized by the former head of the British General Staff Richard Dannat. His words are quoted by The Mirror.

Dannath condemned the purchase of the F-35B by the British Department of Defense. He said that the cost of one such military aircraft is more than $ 100 million. The operation of the fighter is also expensive, he noted.

According to the general, even the United States does not buy such expensive equipment. “This will hit the defense budget for decades to come. Who will be the losers? Well, I would say so – the army,” – said Dannat.

In addition, he noted that the British army lacks about ten thousand troops. At the same time, in the near future their number can only decline, Dannat suggested.

Earlier, the UK Department of Defense published an internal report, which refers to the “shocking state” of the British army. It says that only one in 33 infantry battalions in the UK is not understaffed. The reason is low wages, as well as the selection of recruits through a private firm.
