Vaccination strategy was considered wrong in Europe

First Deputy Head of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, considered the vaccination strategy to be wrong with regards to ordering drugs. He stated this in an interview with the Tagesspiegel AM Sonntag newspaper.

“It is true that there were mistakes in ordering vaccines both in Brussels and in Member States,” Timmermans said. At the same time, he urged not to rush and take stock at the end of the pandemic in order to understand “what we did wrong, and what was done right.”

At the same time, Timmermans called the joint order of vaccines the right step. However, in his opinion, this agreement was more in the interests of rich countries such as Germany.

Earlier, the European Commission advocated the distribution of vaccines between European states in proportion to the size of their population, thus agreeing with the recent statements of a number of EU member states that this is the fairest solution to the issue. In November 2020, G20 leaders pledged to equitably distribute coronavirus vaccines and medicines around the world.
