Most popular cars in Russia have risen in price again

In Russia, some of the most popular cars have risen in price again. According to TASS, prices for standard Lada cars in March increased by 2 percent on average. Avtovaz has raised prices for the second time this year.

So, the best-selling model Lada Granta has risen in price by 11 thousand rubles, Vesta – by 20 thousand rubles, and Lada X-Ray – by 15 thousand rubles. The updated Lada Largus and Niva Travel have become more expensive by 15 thousand rubles, and Lada Niva Legend – by 8 thousand rubles.

Prior to that, Avtovaz raised prices in January. Lada Vesta station wagon began to cost more by 31 thousand rubles, and in the Cross version – by 39 thousand. Since February, Toyota, Lexus, Skoda and Kia have also raised prices for their models. On average, the cost of mass-produced models increased by 10-30 thousand rubles, and premium ones – by more than 50 thousand rubles. Another rise in price may occur in March.

Earlier in March, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) reported that from the beginning of 2021 more cars began to be sold in Russia, although the car market showed growth, but modest: in February, sales grew by 0.8 percent. The total volume of the Russian car market amounted to slightly more than 120 thousand cars (plus 1008 cars compared to February 2020). VAZ, Skoda and Mazda cars remain in the top sales.
