At the end of 2016-2020, Russia (20 percent) remained the second largest arms dealer in the world after the United States (37 percent), according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sweden), published on Monday, March 15.
During the specified period, France (8.2 percent) and Germany (5.5 percent) became the third and fourth exporters of weapons, respectively, while China (5.2 percent) ranks fifth.
According to the report, sales in Russia and China fell compared to the previous five-year period, while those in the United States, Germany and France rose. The 22 percent drop in Russian arms sales in Stockholm was attributed to an almost twofold reduction in supplies to India, which still remains the largest buyer of Russian equipment.
Earlier in March, the Breaking Defense edition wrote that the Zaporozhye Motor Sich is one of the largest enterprises for the production of aircraft engines, preserved from the times of the former USSR, and currently, probably the only one on the territory of the disintegrated state capable of independently creating ( design and manufacture) such a new power plant.
