Third wave of Covid-19 announced in Austria

Austrian Minister of Health Rudolf Anschober announced that the third wave of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic begins in the country. Reported by OE 24.

“We are at the beginning of the third wave and must make every effort to slow down the growth of morbidity. Then the capacity of intensive care units will be enough for everyone. Last autumn should not be repeated,” the publication of his words quoted.

Anschober said that new, tougher security requirements – including travel restrictions between parts of the country – have shown their effectiveness: in those Austrian lands where they were purposefully introduced, the epidemiological situation has improved. According to the minister, now it is necessary to take into account any risks.

Last week it became known that the number of vaccinated Austrians exceeded one million. By June 2021, the authorities intend to vaccinate everyone who wants to.

Earlier on March 15, the media, citing European governments, reported that the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic had hit Europe: the situation is worsening in France, Germany and Italy.
