The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Igor Matovich, wanted to be dismissed because of the supply of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the country. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the leader of the party “Freedom and Solidarity” (SIS), which is a member of the ruling coalition, and Deputy Prime Minister Richard Sulik.
Already two of the four parties of the government coalition of Slovakia have demanded the resignation of the prime minister. In addition to CC, we are talking about representatives of the liberal-conservative party “For People”. The parties believe that Matovic has failed to cope with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and divides society. Sulik stressed that he wants to restructure the government, and the resignation of the prime minister by March 24 is “the minimum requirement”.
“The word” chaos “best describes the first year of work of the government of Prime Minister Igor Matovich, he divides the society and must retire. He lacks managerial, personal and communication skills to lead the government. Agreements reached with Matovich do not work, “the Deputy Prime Minister shared.
On March 12, the head of the Ministry of Health of Slovakia, Marek Krajci, was dismissed due to his position on Sputnik V. Matovic explained that the country’s government was close to collapse.
The supply of the Russian vaccine has led to serious political divisions within Slovakia. Foreign Minister Ivan Korchok condemned the Prime Minister, who personally met the first batch at the airport. President of the country Zuzana Chaputova also spoke out against the use of the Sputnik V vaccine. On March 6, Matovic announced that he would not return the drug back.
