US agrees to sell $ 1.8 billion of patrol aircraft to Germany

The US State Department has agreed to sell P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft to Germany for about $ 1.8 billion. This was reported in a press release from the Defense Cooperation and Security Agency of the US Department of Defense, RIA Novosti reports.

In total, the State Department approved the possible sale of five aircraft and related equipment worth $ 1.77 billion. The American agency has already provided the required certificate, which notifies the US Congress.

It is noted that the deal should support the country’s foreign policy and national security, “improving the security of a NATO ally.”

The P-8A Poseidon was developed for the US Navy based on the Boeing-737-800ERX airliner.
