The benefits of the coronavirus vaccine from the Anglo-Swedish company AstraZeneca outweigh the information about the dangers of the drug. This was announced by the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Harris, reports RIA Novosti.
Harris clarified that the WHO Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety is currently studying reports of thrombosis in those vaccinated with AstraZeneca. According to her, at the moment it is not known whether such a reaction of the body is caused by the administration of the vaccine.
At the moment, 11 European countries have already stopped or temporarily limited vaccination with AstraZeneca due to thrombosis in patients vaccinated with it. Problems arose with two batches of vaccine, one of which was shipped to 17 EU countries.
Earlier it also became known that AstraZeneca will further reduce the supply of its vaccine to the countries of the European Union. The company initially pledged to deliver 90 million doses by the end of the first quarter of 2021, but announced in February that due to production problems, it was forced to cut supplies to 40 million doses. Now AstraZeneca has made even more modest predictions: by the end of March it will be able to provide the EU with only 30 million doses of the drug.
