Rates on consumer loans in Russia decreased to 5 percent per annum

Gazprombank offered a cash loan rate of 5 percent, reducing it by 0.9 percentage points and updating the minimum among Russian banks. This is stated in the bank’s press release.

The release notes that this rate applies to loans with an amount of 3 million to 5 million rubles, subject to personal insurance. For smaller amounts, the rate will be different: from 5.9 percent per annum for an amount of 1.5 million to 3 million rubles, and from 300 thousand to 1.5 million rubles – at 7.9 percent.

For small amounts from 100 to 300 thousand rubles, the rate will be from 8.9 percent per annum, which is 1 percentage point less than before.

The bank claims that when requesting a loan or refinancing up to 1 million rubles, only one document is required – a passport of a citizen of Russia. Applications are offered at the bank’s branches and on the website, and Gazprombank’s salary clients are also offered through the mobile application.

In addition, today Gazprombank announced the launch of a campaign to refinance consumer loans issued by other banks. Until April 30, 2021, it will be possible to refinance from 1.5 to 5 million rubles at 5.45 percent per annum, and from 100 thousand to 1.5 million rubles not inclusive – from 6.9 percent per annum. Without insurance, a 6-7 percentage point markup is provided, depending on the category of the borrower.

Low lending rates in banks can be explained by the fact that while the key rate is kept at a record low level of 4.25 percent. Yesterday in an interview with Izvestia, Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina said that the Bank of Russia does not exclude an increase in the key rate in 2021, everything will depend on the incoming data.
