Chechens convicted of trying to force women in Europe to live according to Sharia law

Chechens in Austria were condemned for trying to force their compatriots to live in Europe according to Sharia law. Reported by Die Presse.

According to the newspaper, five people appeared before the court, the oldest of whom is 38 years old, and the youngest – 19. They organized a group that served as a “morality police”: they persecuted women who, in their opinion, violated traditional norms of behavior. The convicts posted photos of girls “with an inappropriate appearance” on social networks and engaged in harassment, in addition, facts of beatings and threats against the families of victims are known.

Only the 38-year-old defendant, who appeared in closed Internet communities as the “king of the night”, was fully found guilty. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison, 10 of them were suspended. The rest received the same sentences, while two of the accused are already serving sentences under different articles.

In July 2020, the Vienna Regional Court sentenced a Chechen native and a fighter of the Kavkaz Emirate terrorist organization (banned in Russia) to 10 years in preparation for an attack on the Russian military that resulted in the death of four people. The prosecutor’s office accused the 32-year-old man of participating in a terrorist organization from 2008 to 2013.
