Lukashenko renews leadership of Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he practically renewed the leadership of the country and regions for people of a new generation. BelTA informs about it in its Telegram-channel.

“As they say, another galaxy of high-level leaders in Belarus. No matter who says that we have become ossified, nothing like that. We have practically renewed all the country’s leadership and the level of the governor, and the chairmen of district executive committees with new people. You are a new generation, and you will take the baton in the future and build Belarus, “Lukashenko said.

He noted that the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (ANC) was not a formal event in the life of the country. The decisions made at it are a guideline for leaders at all levels, the president emphasized.

Earlier on March 11, it became known that Lukashenko had appointed a new chairman of the Investigative Committee (IC). It was Dmitry Gora. Viktor Gulevich was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Anatoly Kraevsky – Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the President, Vadim Sinyavsky – Minister of Emergency Situations. Lukashenko also renewed the leadership of the State Customs Committee, appointed new deputy foreign ministers, the minister of taxes and fees, the minister of economy, the minister of energy and the minister of justice. New rectors have appeared at three universities.

In mid-February, Lukashenko announced a referendum on the new Constitution of Belarus. It can be held in at least 11 months or a year, he said. Before that, speaking at the VNS, Lukashenka said that the authorities would have time to prepare for the constitutional reform during 2021. After that, as the President noted, the question of his resignation from office will begin to be resolved.

In Belarus, protests have been going on for more than six months after the presidential elections on August 9, 2020, according to the official results of which Lukashenko received 80 percent of the vote. The actions of those who disagree with the results are harshly suppressed by law enforcement agencies. Tens of thousands of people were detained, many spoke of torture and beating in isolation wards. Four people died in clashes with security forces.
