SuperJet 100 manufacturer will cease to exist

The Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft manufacturer, Sukhoi, will cease to exist and enter a new structure called the Corporate Aircraft Center, RBC writes, citing industry sources and the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). p>

At present, Sukhoi, together with the companies MiG, Tupolev, Irkut, Yak, Ilyushin and others, are part of the UAC. It is assumed that both the UAC and its individual members will become a single legal entity. The head office of the Corporate Aircraft Building Center will be located in Moscow.

This decision was made on March 16 at a meeting at the Rostec state corporation, which has been taking over the UAC since 2019. At the beginning of the reform, the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said that it could take at least three years, since the UAC needs to go through a financial recovery procedure and pay off debts to banks.

It is not known whether all companies will move from the UAC structure to the new center. It is reported that this will happen with MiG, Tupolev, Ilyushin and Irkut. Also, the UAC Unified Engineering and Design Center will soon be created, which is planned to include all aviation design bureaus.

One of the main reasons for the reform is the need to optimize personnel and reduce the staff of enterprises in the aircraft industry, primarily at the expense of management personnel. At the same time, the design unit, numbering about 15 thousand people, will not be reduced.
