TERRA TECH and TUI: virtual and real travel at MITT 2021

TERRA TECH, a subsidiary of the Russian Space Systems holding (RKS, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), together with the travel operator TUI, has opened a season of virtual travel to the most interesting corners of Russia as part of the Moscow March 16-18, 2021 International Tourism Exhibition MITT 2021. For all visitors of the exhibition, a VR simulator with a built-in ATLAS VR platform at the TUI stand provides an opportunity to make exciting trips in virtual reality format to the most interesting corners of Russia.

TERRA TECH General Director Milana Elerdova: “Space technologies are now being applied in new industries. We are pleased to unlock the potential of space for tourism together with TUI. This is especially important in the context of the tourism and hospitality industry national project, which will be launched in 2021.” Our virtual reality platform ATLAS VR shows different tours in 3D format and contributes to the growth of the attractiveness of the local tourism product – after all, there is something to see in every region of Russia. The enrichment of state and commercial information and analytical systems with geospatial data for improving management in the field of tourism also looks promising. “
Taras Demura, General Director of TUI Russia and the CIS: “We are pleased to have the opportunity, in cooperation with Roscosmos, to invite guests of our stand to travel to the most beautiful corners of Russia where our tourists come. With the help of modern technologies, you can see them from a new angle, get to hard-to-reach attractions. We intend to expand the palette of VR-tours and consider virtual travel as an additional way to take a closer look at a real tour, an opportunity to prepare for the trip, outline interesting locations and routes. “

ATLAS VR is a digital twin of the Earth based on space images that allows you to navigate 3D copies of cities, regions and the whole planet in a VR helmet. Virtual tourism pavilions can be located in visit centers, airports, hospitality facilities, educational institutions. Thanks to VR technologies, the user can instantly be transported to the desired point, fly over the area with an accurate geographic reference, expand his horizons and knowledge about the world around, traditions, history and culture of a particular region of Russia.
