The United States is not afraid of rivalry with Russia, but counts on a predictable and stable relationship with it. This was stated by the representative of the State Department Jalina Porter at a briefing, RIA Novosti reports.
“Given Russia’s behavior over the past couple of months, there will obviously be areas and elements of relations that are rivalry. We will not shy away from them,” Porter said. She noted that relations with Russia remain a challenge for the United States, but at the same time stressed the country’s readiness for this.
Porter drew attention to the fact that the goal of relations between the two countries is their predictability and stability in the future. The American side will take advantage of opportunities for constructive cooperation, but at the same time intends to consult with partners and allies on Russia’s “out-of-bounds” behavior, the State Department official added.
