Sony showed controllers for the new VR headset. This is reported on the company’s website.
The controllers are designed for use with the previously announced VR headset and PlayStation 5. As the company explained, the device has a spherical design, created with ergonomics in mind and suitable for any user. “The new controller reflects our mission to achieve a deeper sense of presence and immersion in the virtual reality experience,” said PlayStation Vice President Hideaki Nishino.
The device is partially based on the DualSense gamepad, therefore it has adaptive triggers with resistance and tactile feedback. The controller also removes data from the gamer’s fingers, which allows you to make various gestures in games. The device has several buttons: for example, “grip” to hold game objects.
The position of the controllers in space is tracked using a special ring on the device itself.
Sony did not disclose information on when the controllers will go on sale. However, representatives of the Japanese company said they would soon start sending samples of the device to VR game developers to get feedback from them.
At the end of February, Sony announced the next generation virtual reality headset. The gadget will be designed to work with the PlayStation 5.
