In Russia, they said about danger of price regulation for stores

The head of the Lenta supermarket chain Vladimir Sorokin said about the dangers that could be posed for domestic stores by state regulation of the price level. His words are quoted by RBC.

“They told us to sell sugar or vegetable oil at a certain price, we sell it, but for us as a business entity it is fraught,” Sorokin noted.

According to him, the current rise in prices for some types of products is not speculative, but economic in nature. Sorokin also drew attention to the fact that retailers, as a rule, are not themselves interested in raising prices unnecessarily: “Everyone understands that by raising the price, you risk and undermine your competitiveness: people have little money and they spend it very carefully.” .

The rise in prices for some categories of socially significant products was noted at the end of 2020, after which President Vladimir Putin became interested in the problem. As a result, the authorities have fixed prices until April 1. Among the products they cover are sugar and sunflower oil.
