The head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen reported on the deterioration of the situation with the coronavirus in Europe. According to her, this is due to a decrease in the rate of vaccination, reports TASS.
“If we look at the epidemic situation [in the EU], it is getting worse. We see the emergence of new strains. We see the formation of a third wave in the countries of the community,” said von der Leyen, urging countries to increase the rate of vaccination. >
The culprit for this situation was the AstraZeneca company, which did not supply and did not produce the amount of vaccines that was prescribed in the contract. At the same time, Pfizer and Moderna are acting in strict accordance with the contract, the head of the European Commission added.
The Guardian wrote about the third wave of coronavirus that swept Europe on March 15. Then the daily increase in new cases of COVID-19 in Europe reached record levels since the beginning of February, which led to the resumption of restrictions, curfews and even an actual lockdown in some countries.
