The American company SpaceX has almost reached its main goal of using the first stage of its heavy Falcon 9 rocket ten times, according to ArsTechnica.
According to the publication, on March 14, the first stage of the carrier, numbered 1051, took off and landed for the ninth time (in the latter case, on the offshore platform Of Course I Still Love You). ArsTechnica believes that in the next one to two months, this element of the rocket will make its tenth flight and landing.
The publication reminds that one of its main goals, which is tenfold use of the reusable first stage of Falcon 9, was delivered to SpaceX about three years ago.
In January, SpaceX successfully launched Falcon 9 with a record number of satellites (143 spacecraft).
In August 2020, Ars Technica reported that, according to Ookla’s Speedtest, Starlink’s internet speed is 11-60 megabits per second when downloading, and 5-18 megabits per second when downloading. In this case, the signal delay time is 31-94 milliseconds. Some beta users of the system had ping times of 20-21 milliseconds.
In May 2018, the head of SpaceX Elon Musk said that he would allow a reduction in the marginal cost of re-launching Falcon 9 to “less than $ 5 or $ 6 million” in about three years.
