American newspaper confessed to lying about Trump

The American newspaper The Washington Post has issued a refutation of the material in which it attributed to the former US President Donald Trump the words that he did not utter. The corresponding note was published on the website of the publication.

We are talking about a January piece, which said that Trump allegedly demanded from the head of a group investigating possible violations in the presidential elections in Georgia to “find falsifications”, promising that in this case she would become a “national hero.”

Two months later, a recording of their telephone conversation was published – in it Trump did ask to carefully study possible violations during the voting in Georgia, but did not utter the specific phrases mentioned by The Washington Post. In its refutation, the newspaper admitted that it had quoted the former president from the source, and therefore attributed to Trump the words that he did not say. Corresponding changes were made in the January article.

The former US President reacted to the amendment with a statement, published by the Daily Caller news portal in his Twitter account . Trump thanked The Washington Post for the correction, stressing that the whole story was “a lie” from the beginning. “Please note that all mistakes, omissions, mistakes and outright lies on the part of the mainstream media are always directed in one direction – against me and the Republicans,” Trump said.

On November 3, 2020, the next presidential elections were held in the United States. On January 7, the US Congress approved the victory of Democrat Joe Biden, he became the 46th head of state.
