The fifth generation F-22 Raptor of the United States Air Force (Air Force) “experienced an emergency in flight”, as a result of which it landed with its bow on the runway (runway). This is reported by The Drive, citing materials published on Facebook.
According to the American publication, the incident took place on March 15 at Anglin Air Force Base in Florida. The pilot who was in control of the aircraft was “taken to a medical facility for examination.”
The reasons for what happened are not named in the publication.
The Drive recalls that the US Air Force currently has 185 F-22 Raptor fighters, of which only 125 are operational.
In March, the American magazine Popular Mechanics wrote that the helicopter being developed as part of the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA) project for the US Army will receive a 20-mm cannon capable of “killing” lightly armored systems, in particular, an anti-aircraft missile-gun system (ZRPK ) “Pantsir-C1” of Russian production.
