Foreign diplomats living in Pyongyang were banned from taking to the streets on Tuesday, March 16. This was reported by the Russian Embassy in North Korea on its page in Facebook .
The diplomatic mission reported that it had received the corresponding note the day before, March 15. The ban applies to local and foreign personnel of all foreign embassies, without exception. The measure will be in effect from 5 am to 10 pm local time.
According to the Russian embassy, the ban is connected with anti-epidemic measures, as well as the impending sandstorm in North Korea and its possible consequences.
Previously, a powerful sandstorm that came from Mongolia covered Beijing, which caused the sky of the Chinese capital to turn orange. The storm has resulted in severe air pollution and meteorologists have declared the hazard rating as yellow.
