Calculated damage from blocking a Suez Canal

Bloomberg calculated the damage to the global economy from blocking the Suez Canal, where at the end of March the ultra-large container ship Evergreen. According to the publication, it is 9.6 billion dollars a day.

Such is the average cost of goods transported in both directions on the Suez Channel, which has now been unavailable for ships. Currently, from 165 to 185 vessels are expected to go along the route.

According to analysts, 50 cargo ships pass through the channel. Those of them who are now stuck in the stroke due to Evergreen, own the world’s largest logic companies, including AP Moller-Maersk A / S, Mediterranean Shipping Co., Ocean Network Express Pte and Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp.

Among other things, deliveries of about 13 million barrels of oil and petroleum products are delayed. About 2.6 million barrels of them have Russian origin.
